How Long Does It Take To Memorize A Surah?

The Quran has 114 surahs that have different numbers of verses. You can conveniently memorize a small Surah in a day or multiple small surahs in a day. Whereas, the slightly longer and longer surahs will take a few days. For surahs with 3-6 verses, one day is sufficient for memorization. For 7-15 verses, 2 or 3 days will work better. For 15-50 verses you must require more than a week for perfect hifz along with revision.

As you move forward with 50 to 150-verses Surahs, you will require 1-3 months. Similarly, the intensity and number of verses in every Surah decides its memorization period. Consider memorizing the longest Surahs of the Quran in anywhere between 3-7 months with proper understanding, Tajweed, reviews, and consolidation of verses. After memorization of any Surah, revise it 10-20 times for perfection and excellent retention.

Similarly, you can memorize Surah Yaseen in a week by learning 12 verses daily (6 and 5 verses after every prayer). For a 210-day memorization plan, beginners can learn 9 verses daily, dividing them into each prayer slot according to their ease. It’s important to memorize the Surah with good Tajweed and proper understanding. For sisters and busy individuals, this Surah can take around 2 months too. You can conveniently memorize 2 verses daily to complete 83 verses in 60 days.
