Who Was The First Woman To Memorize The Quran?
The first woman to memorize the Quran was Hazrat Hafsa bint Umar RA, the daughter of Umar and the wife of Prophet Muhammad SAWW. When she migrated from Mecca to Medina, Hafsa made special arrangements to memorize the verses of the Quran as they were revealed. After memorizing each verse, she would contemplate it deeply, giving special attention to its meaning, implications, and interpretations.
Hafsa’s dedication to knowledge exceeded the norm. In an era when most people were illiterate, Hafsa R.A. was literate. Her studious nature didn’t hinder her quest for knowledge. She diligently acquired and preserved knowledge for future generations.
