3 Years Memorization Schedule

For your ease, we have shared a thorough schedule that is divided into 4 quarters. Each quarter has 9 months and can be further subdivided into small milestones for convenience.

  • First quarter (months 1-9): Aim to memorize 3 verses daily, 270 in 9 months. Dedicate 1.5 – 2 hours daily, accumulating 45 – 50 hours monthly.
  • Second quarter (months 10-18): Aim to memorize 4 verses daily, reaching 360 verses. Allocate 2 – 2.5 hours daily, summing up to 60 – 65 hours monthly.
  • Third quarter (months 19-27): Aim to memorize 5 verses daily, covering 450 verses. Devote 2.5 – 3 hours daily, resulting in 75 – 80 hours monthly.
  • Last quarter (months 28-36): Aim to memorize 6 verses daily, completing 540 verses. Allocate 3 – 4 hours daily, amounting to 90 – 100 hours monthly.
Quarter Months Verses per Day Total Verses Daily Time  Monthly Time

For further division of this schedule, you can divide each quarter into 3 parts. Each part will have 3 months. In each month you have to memorize 90 verses to reach the target of 1st quarter easily. Remember, with time, your learning capacity will increase, your Tajweed and understanding will improve, and you will find yourself ahead of the schedule.

7 Tips To Memorize the Quran in 3 Years

Those who aim to memorize the Quran in 1 or 2 years follow a strict schedule and multiple tips. But, for 3 years of Quran memorization journey, we offer very easy tips to keep you away from getting burdened, demotivated, and detracted.

1. Start from the Easiest Juz

Start from Juz Amma (the 30th Chapter), break it into 4 quarters, and begin from the end. If you will learn more Surahs in the beginning, you will have more revisions every day. The best is to memorize a verse daily with proper tajweed and understanding. Then, in the 3rd week of your hifz, increase the limit and try memorizing 2 verses.

Set small goals for your daily routine. Initially, you will need to get into the routine of learning, reviewing, and focusing more on Tajweed and translation. So, do not jump straight to the whole Surah with high energies.

Allocate 3 medium-sized slots for your hifz instead of a big slot of 1 or 1.5 hours. Give some time to your brain and memory box to adapt to the change. The slots can be like this:

  • The early morning slot for hifz and understanding of verses
  • The noon slot for revision
  • The night slot for recitation with Tajweed.

2. Follow the Easiest Hifz Method

There are numerous quran memorization techniques discovered by professionals for ages. Not all techniques are meant to be applied by every student. Bear with the fact that every student has different tendencies and capacities. So, let your tutor decide what works better for you. Here is the list of best hifz techniques that are 100% result-oriented.

  • Aural hifz technique
  • Visual hifz technique
  • Aural and visual together
  • Ottoman hifz technique
  • Old Arabian Hifz method
  • 3:3 hifz method
  • Top to bottom and bottom to top hifz technique

Once you are on board with any of the above techniques, stick to it until you are done with your whole hifz. Try applying 2 methods to see if they give you better results.

Note: Hifz Academy uses these methods in their hifz classes for beginners and kids for proper learning and revisions.

3. Translation is Mandatory for Hifz

If you want to memorize the Quran and retain it forever, then you must focus on the meaning of the verses. Many Shiekhs believe that if you do not ponder over the meaning of the verses, you will start forgetting your hifz because it is just rotting and cramming. Understanding the meaning can be done in your native language. Go through the summary of the Surah you have to learn and then read the translation of the verses so you have an idea of what you are learning. And this can help to memorize 1 page of quran fast

For example: When memorizing Surah Al-Feel, read the summary and history of Abraha and his armies that were crushed by birds from the skies. This will help you remember the story while learning the verse.

4. Perfect your Tajweed like Natives

Tajweed holds a pivotal place in Quran hifz. If you are memorizing the Quran alone and not focusing on the correct makharij of the letters, you are committing a great sin because one wrong pronunciation can change the entire meaning. So, give some time (the night slot) to your Tajweed. Either listen to the recitations of different Huffaz online or join a Tajweed class for just 10-15 minutes daily to correct your articulation points.

As Allah SWT has commanded in the Quran to recite the Quran with Tarteel (beautification). So, read each verse with proper intonation.

5. Set up an Ideal Routine

The more you are distracted by any work or person, the more you will move away from your schedule. For these prime 3 years, manage all your tasks efficiently. If you are a student and want to memorize along with your contemporary subjects, then divide the time for your hifz classes according to your ease or get a personalized schedule from a tutor.

Your routine must have plenty of focused time for hifz and your other commitments.

6. Make a Revision Strategy for 100% Perfection

Revision is a hidden key to perfect hifz. Do not just keep moving on with hifz, stop daily to revise the previous verses and consolidate them with the new ones. Give tests of previous Surahs in the form of quizzes or oral recitations. Either recite half a Surah or the whole, but do review your ex lessons.

Quizzes are really interesting and less time-consuming. Your teacher can recite an Ayah and let you complete the rest or he can ask to name the Surah. So, there are multiple ways to take quizzes on Surah to improve your hifz.

Ideally, there are 3 types of revisions that you need to work on while reciting the Quran.

  • New Revision: This is the part of the Quran you just memorized a few days or weeks ago.
  • Old Revision: This is the part of Quran you memorized few weeks or a month ago.
  • Overall Revision: This includes everything that you have memorized and needs to be recited in one go after revising in chunks.

7. Keep a Lesson Tracker for Motivation

There are millions of lesson trackers available online, or you can design your own tracker. Write down a memo in your diary in the morning, pointing at the junction you will reach till night in your hifz. Then, paste a star in your tracker if you accomplished the goal. Slowly and gradually the whole memo will be filled up with stars.

If you need ideas to stay motivated throughout your hifz, listen to the success stories of huffaz who completed the Quran in 1,2, or 3 years. Keeping track of your daily progress will also help you focus on your weak areas and improve the results.
